Holography is a young modern science which is less than 75 years old, but its importance can hardly be overestimated. Apart from creation of 3D realistic objects it is widely used in medical science, the sphere of protecting technologies, compact highly precise optics, computing engineering. Currently, holography is still expanding its presence in many other spheres of national economy: education, culture and art.

Holography as an applied science owes its appearance in Belarus to the prominent Belarusian scientist, Academician of the International Engineering Academy, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics Leonid Victorovich Tanin, who founded in Minsk in 1988 the first research and production enterprise for output of holograms "Light Magic" LLC. The enterprise has been engaged for over 30 years in the development of holographic technologies, output of holographic products for artistic and applied purposes from image holograms and stamp-stickers to holographic pictures and optical clones of historic and cultural values.

Owing to scientific developments of L.V. Tanin specialists of “"Light Magic” LLC were able to start the output of a wide range of holographic products, including holographic control devices, verification and calibration brand stamp-stickers in various designs, holographic self-adhesive and self-destructive stamps with the application of individual information and serial identification numbers by laser demetallization.

One more area of the company’s activities includes artistic holography. With a laser light beam it is possible to obtain accurate, to the smallest detail, copies of objects and their replication, which makes it possible to see optical images of artistic and cultural values, the originals of which are inaccessible to a wide range of the population. Due to close cooperation with the Belarusian Orthodox Church and some museums of the Republic of Belarus holographic images of Orthodox shrines were created, such as “Gifts of the Magi”, “Cross of Saint Euphrosyne”, “Zhirovichi Icon of the Mother of God”, “Turov Cross”, optical copies of rare museum exhibits “Belt of Vytautas”, “Slutsk Belt”, “Treasures of the Belarusian Land”, collections of orders and medals, as well as other interesting exhibits.

However, one has to acknowledge that the study of holography, as a branch of physics in the educational process, is not given sufficient attention in the curricula of secondary education, and in the system of higher education it is limited to short special courses. The first proposals for improving the situation were made by L.V. Tanin almost 40 years ago, and were aimed at the development of main principles of using holography in the general educational process and creation of own scientific and production base making it possible to implement researches of the recent years.

Numerous holographic exhibitions have shown real interest of young people to opportunities of holography. So, after the First Global Exhibition of Holograms in Minsk in 2011 the competition for admission the Faculty of Physics of the Belarusian State University increased considerably. Afterwards, exhibitions were accompanied by excursions, seminars, lectures with the involvement of well-known scientists and specialists.

In 2016 on the basis of the BSU lyceum the exhibition-presentation “Development and industrial use of innovative highly informative educational media for a new generation based on holographic methods” was organized for representatives of schools, higher educational institutions, the Ministry of Education and members of the government. According to the presentation results favourable reports and proposals were received concerning the continuation of work in the undertaken direction.

By using its own funds "Light Magic" LLC worked out visual aids in physics, biology, geography, history and literature. Together with the National Institute of Education good perspectives and expediency of introducing these aids to the training process were confirmed.

The development results were tested in real school conditions. Lessons, exhibitions and workshops were held in schools, lyceums and gymnasiums of Minsk and Minsk region, in particular, in towns of Myadel and Zhodino. In all schools and lyceums holograms related to the topics included in the curriculum were donated. These classes allowed the students to get a better understanding of the lesson atmosphere, to establish the feedback with students. For example, the continuously arising question "How is a hologram formed?" led to creation of a mobile device for holograms recording (MDHR), which makes it possible to record holograms directly during a lesson, and its cost is quite accessible for a school budget. Classes with the use of such a device in gymnasiums Nos. 11 and 41 of Minsk aroused genuine interest in physics and the students’ wish to get a hologram with their own hands.

Our works of using holography in the educational process were many times demonstrated at international conferences and forums. As a result of the competitive selection they were presented at the 4^th Forum of regions of Belarus and Russia in 2017 and during the events dedicated to the Days of Minsk in Shanghai in 2019.

"Light Magic" LLC has technical capacities for production of training aids, it possesses its own technological developments for the implementation of the educational process based on the practical experience of holograms recording and copying, their further processing.

The project "Holographic educational means" has proven its efficiency in the process of school education, and the introduction of this project into the curriculum will make the learning process more interesting, and it will considerably improve its level and quality.

We believe that the existing practical experience and researches in the field of holography will attract both EEU business representatives and representatives of the ministries of education of the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States. This will allow to widely use holography in the practical sphere and education, and it will lay the groundwork for new discoveries in this field of physics.
